Jon Siegel's Bridge Page

Bridge is one of my hobbies. It's the great intellectual card game—a game of infinite subtlety and endless learning. It's also the only competitive activity I know where anyone can show up, pay the entry fee, and play against the best players in the world. You'll usually see me—and some national and world champions—at tournaments in the DC area.

Bridge experts have created some great books and web pages in which they tell stories of instructive or amusing deals they've played (see links below). I'm not an expert; I'm just a B level player plodding along as best I can. But why should experts have all the fun?

So herewith, some of my favorite deals. I don't claim to have done anything brilliant; the emphasis is on hands that might provide a useful lesson for beginning and intermediate players, or that just tell a fun story. Share and enjoy.
